Red Cloud Loop Day 1, Vernal Utah



Yesterday we attempted Red Cloud Loop in Vernal. First, we were acccosted by free range cattle then rained on and frozen so took the shortcut home over Taylor Mountain.

Sheep Creek Canyon Geological Loop





For Joellen's 57th birthday July 3rd we rode about 140 miles round trip on our Dual Sport Bikes up to Sheep Creek Canyon Geological Loop north of Vernal Utah. The terrain was awesome and varied greatly. This ride deserves an encore!

Vernal, Utah




Who knew that Vernal, Utah would turn out to be so special. The scenery is so varied and extreme. Vernal boasts many dinosaur fossils and history. There are many dirt bike trails to explore. Route 191 North goes from giant Utah rock formations into giant wooded Pines. We hope to be able to extend our 4-night stay here into a week+. We are in Fossil Valley RV Park that is very shaded by huge Oaks and Aspens. More to come on Vernal ...

Alpine Loop, Silverton



The views are stunning. Yesterday we rode our dirtbikes on trails around Silverton in altitudes in excess of 12,000 feet. Sometimes we were above the tree line next to unmelted snow.

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Rail Road




Today we rode the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Rail Road from Durango to Silverton and back. We made reservations at Silver Summit RV Park for 4 nights starting tomorrow.

We finally made it to Durango. There is a wildfire just over the mountain to the east. The wind is blowing it away.
