Jim just got his Technicians Ham license KG5LTL. He'll test for the General next month. He has a hand held 2 meter radio and his 10 meter system will be up and running in a few days. He hopes to talk to Europe at some point when the conditions are right. He hopes his Dad decides to get his radio setup again so he can talk to him in Florida. At some point he hopes to learn Morse Code(CW).
We had a great time yesterday celebrating Jim's birthday at some of our Temecula wineries. The below pic features Jim with Oak Mountain's Steve Andrews and Randy in Oak Mountain's wine cave.
Joellen and Jim pictured with dog residents at Wolff Vineyards. We visited three wineries today in San Luis Obispo, CA and brought home two Wolff Syrahs. Yummy.
We are in Pismo Beach, California on our 1st road trip in the RV in quite a while. Joellen and I have been riding our bikes into town and to the Monarch butterfly grove http://www.monarchbutterfly.org, walking on the beach and enjoying ourselves. The trip wasn't bad except for going through downtown Hollywood on the 101. Our first day here I had to replace our RV water pump after troubleshooting as the internal check valve stopped working and we had water leaking from the RV tank bay; didn't matter if we were using our fresh water or the park's.
