Doffo Winery

Joellen and Linda Mason at Doffo Winery

Linda Mason, formerly of Lawrence Park and Marple Newtown graduate, travelled from Bellflower to Temecula last Sunday for wine tasting.  We had a great time visiting Hart, Doffo and Cougar wineries and reminiscing about people and places we knew growing up in Broomall, PA.

Grape Harvest, Fallbrook, CA

Here we are with neighbors Rose and Bob after picking 725 lbs. of grapes from a Fallbrook vineyard.  We brought the grapes back to the Press' where we destemmed and began the fermentation process.  Along with the grapes harvested from the Press Soledad Lane vineyard, we are picking again this Wednesday at a vineyard in Valley Center for another 500 lbs. of grapes.

Pendaries RV Resort Rociada, NM

We are an hour south of Taos, NM in a secluded resort in San Miguel county.  Our RV site is huge.  Pendaries RV Resort is mostly deeded lots with custom structures built around RVs and park model homes.  The best and most secluded lot, at the highest elevation (7700'), backing up to Santa Fe Nat'l Forest, is for sale!  Today we are going on a steep hike to the old turquoise mine with oxygen and bear repellant in hand.  We look forward to dual sport riding here; starting with Morphy Lake that is just a few miles away.

Buck

This morning we had this frequent visitor at our campsite in Chama, NM.  We've often seen deer, elk and a skunk within feet of our RV.

San Juan Nat'l Forest

Yesterday we braved the frequent southern Colorado t-storms and rode fire roads to Buckles and Navajo trailheads at 10,000'.  The views were astounding; looking across to higher mountains and rock formations.  We found an unused can of bear repellant on the road and fortunately did not have cause to use it on this ride (but a black bear was sited near our campground earlier this week).  Notice open range cows behind Joellen.

Rio Grande Nat'l Forest

On July 3rd, 2017, Joellen's birthday, we rode dual sports into Colorado's Rio Grande Nat'l Forest.
On the way back to the Sky Mountain Resort RV Park, we stopped at Chama, NM's two bars and met another person enjoying their July 3rd birthday as well.

Bastrop State Park

Joellen, Carl and Jim relaxing in a Bastrop State Park campsite.  This park is great.  The pool is 33.3 meters long.  The park endured a lot of fire damage from the great Bastrop wildfire of 2011 but is still beautiful.  We hope to find more parks with full hook-ups as nice as Bastrop State Park.

Carl's 6th Birthday

Happy Birthday Carl.  Pictures are from this morning's free range walk and inside our Hemet House.

Tractor

This year's January rain brought tall grass and weeds to our Hemet House property; the first time we've seen such growth since buying the property in 2013.  So, we got a 50 year-old Allis-Chalmers tractor complete with tiller, mower and dump trailer.  We need to get more aggressive tires in order to better handle the hills.

Here's Carl during our free-range walk at dawn trying to get back into the house with a present for us; see mouse in mouth.  Yesterday, Carl got a mole.

Cold and Rainy in SoCal

SoCal enjoyed a wetter than normal January after years of exceptional drought.  Its raining again today and projected for tomorrow - yeah!  In this dark and drizzly weather, we get to enjoy our fireplace during the day.

Hart Winery

Here we are again at Hart Winery with Rose and Bob Press.  Hart just released a new Sauvignon Blanc and we all brought some home.  This picture was from Sunday, 1/29 while sunny and warm in Temecula, CA.
